 The StartSSL™ Web-of-Trust (WoT) is an attempt by StartCom to create a community network of notaries and members, where notaries perform the verification of its subscribers, hence the term WoT. This is a decentralized infrastructure for the validation of the subscriber's identity in person by a notary.
Any person can participate in this WoT and by qualifying to the guidelines be a member and notary. Technically and legally, this type of certification is Class 1 leveled and additionally provides an added value of multiple assurances by the verifying notaries.
